What is the story about?
Fresh signs of unrest have emerged within the Trinamool Congress, with sources claiming thatexpelled MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha held late-night
strategy meetings with several sitting party legislators at Kolkata's MLA Hostel. According to sources, legislators from the Malda-Murshidabad belt were among those present during the discussions. Continuous phone calls and encrypted messages were also reportedly sent to multiple MLAs late into the night as efforts intensified to rally support. Sources further claimed that the two expelled legislators have reached out to more than 50 "dissatisfied" TMC MLAs over the past 48 hours amid growing discontent within sections of the party.
Discussions are also reportedly underway about submitting a letter to the Assembly Speaker proposing Ritabrata Banerjee as the leader of a rebel faction that some legislators are privately referring to as the "real" or "Asli Trinamool" bloc inside the Assembly.
The emerging group is said to be positioning itself as an "ethical alternative" within the party, citing concerns over alleged high-command pressure and the ongoing CID probe into the signature forgery controversy that has rocked the Trinamool Congress in recent weeks.
There has been no official response from the TMC leadership to the claims so far. The developments come amid a period of political turbulence within the party following the expulsion of two MLAs, allegations of forged signatures, resignations by senior leaders and reports of growing dissatisfaction among some legislators.
