Amid trade tensions, US President Donald Trump may visit India later this year for the QUAD Leaders Summit, his nominee for ambassador to India, Sergio
Gor, hinted. While addressing the Senate Committee of Foreign Relations, Trump's close aide said that "the President is fully committed to meeting leaders of QUAD," and there have already been talks on a trip for the next meeting. India, which was originally scheduled to hold the QUAD Summit in 2024, is expected to host it domestically this year. "The QUAD is vitally important. The President is committed to continual engagement with the QUAD. There have already been talks about a trip for the next QUAD meeting," he said. Gor added that Trump travelled to Japan earlier this year and had a meeting with its prime minister. "They are also part of the QUAD, and they have also emphasised the important relationship that we must build on," he added.

'India one of most important relationships for US': Gor
