Israel has launched fresh attacks on Gaza, with multiple explosions reported in Gaza City as fighting also continued in the southern part of the territory.
Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that Israeli drones dropped a large number of munitions on the al-Kateeba district, west of Gaza City, with at least 10 explosions heard in the area. Sources at al-Shifa Hospital said casualties were arriving following the strikes, although no confirmed figure for those killed or injured was immediately available. The situation remained fluid, with further Israeli strikes reported while Palestinian sources described continued clashes elsewhere in the Gaza Strip.

Explosions reported west of Gaza City
The latest strikes were reported in the al-Kateeba district, where Israeli drones were said to have dropped multiple munitions. At least 10 explosions were reported in the area, according to Al Jazeera's correspondent, with the attacks adding to renewed military activity around Gaza City.
The reports have not yet provided details on the exact targets of the strikes or the number of casualties. Sources at al-Shifa Hospital, however, said people injured in the attacks were being brought to the facility as emergency services dealt with the aftermath.

The fresh bombardment comes amid continued Israeli military operations across Gaza. The latest reports also indicate that the situation is not confined to the northern part of the territory, with fighting being reported in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Palestinian sources reported machine-gun fire in the area, although it remained unclear who was involved in the confrontation. The reports did not establish whether the clashes were between Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces or involved an affiliated armed group.
Clashes reported in Khan Younis
In Khan Younis, intermittent clashes were reported near the American Hospital. Israeli airstrikes were also reportedly taking place in the area, with Palestinian sources alleging that the strikes were providing cover for a special-force operation.
There was no immediate independent confirmation of the reported special-force activity. The identity of those involved in the ground confrontation also remained unclear as reports from the area continued to emerge.
The reports from Gaza City and Khan Younis point to simultaneous military activity in different parts of the territory. While the strikes west of Gaza City have generated reports of casualties reaching al-Shifa Hospital, the situation in Khan Younis remains centred around continuing clashes and reported Israeli air activity.
No confirmed casualty toll was immediately available from the latest attacks. Further information is expected as medical facilities and authorities assess the impact of the strikes and fighting.
For now, the situation remains developing, with Israel and Hamas yet to provide a detailed account of the latest military activity described in the reports. The immediate focus remains on the scale of the strikes, the number of casualties and whether the reported clashes in Khan Younis are linked to a wider Israeli ground operation.
