The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Centre and the Delhi government over an "important" public interest litigation (PIL) which sought an alternative
protest site instead of Jantar Mantar. The plea stated that Jantar Mantar is no longer a proper protest site, as a lot of inconvenience has been caused to the general public. "It has been stated in the plea that Jantar Mantar is not a proper site anymore for such protests due to the ingress-outgress issue. Supply of medical essentials, etc. I think this is important... please take instructions, Mr Solicitor. Issue notice and list this separately," Chief Justice Of India CJI) Surya Kant told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. The advocate appearing for the petitioner also mentioned in the top court that Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP's) national convener, Arvid Kejriwal, called a townhall and decided to march to the Prime Minister's residence. "Another July 20 incident should be avoided," he stated. Replugging to the advocate's submission, the CJI stated, "They know how to handle it. If they cannot, come to us for mishandling.
