Washington DC: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that the United States is close to ordering fresh strikes on Iran. Trump made these remarks
during an interview with Fox News as tensions between the US and Iran have risen sharply over the past two days. Trump said that the fresh strikes will target Iranian power plants and bridges in response to “tapping the United States along” when it comes to drawn-out negotiations. The US had launched overnight strikes against Iran after its Apache helicopter was downed near the Strait of Hormuz. The US forces reportedly hit around 20 Iranian sites. Revealing new details about the helicopter incident, Trump said that an Iranian drone became lodged between the helicopter's two pilots as they maneuvered to avoid an explosion. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday claimed that it targeted four sites at the US al-Azraq base in Jordan using long-range missiles. The targeted strikes reportedly included F-35 fighter jet hangars and a command-and-control center. The Iranian military further warned that it’s ready to deliver a “crushing and decisive” response to any further US attack. US President Warns Iran In His Truth Social Post: Earlier on Wednesday, Trump declared that 'the Bully of the Middle East is DEAD', unleashing a blistering attack on Iran. In a fiery social media post, Trump claimed Iran's military had been 'completely defeated,' saying that large parts of its naval and air capabilities 'don't even exist anymore.' He accused Tehran of dragging its feet on negotiations and warned that the country would now 'have to pay the price' for failing to strike a deal with the United States. "Iran's Military is a complete and total mess... They have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!!" Trump wrote in his Truth Social post. Meanwhile, in another post, Trump claimed that the United States' naval blockade against Iran has been highly effective, describing it as "the most successful blockade in the history of naval warfare." In a post shared on social media, Trump alleged that the blockade had severely impacted Iran's economy, military finances, and government operations. "The Fake News Media refuses to report how EFFECTIVE the U.S. Naval BLOCKADE is," Trump wrote, adding that "nothing gets through unless we want it to."
