An arrest warrant has been issued against Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra by the Krishnanagar District Court. On June 12, the TMC MP for the Krishnanagar Lok
Sabha constituency had allegedly posted certain objectionable remarks on her social media handle regarding the Union Home Minister and the Indian Army . Additionally, a case was filed against her in the Krishnanagar District Court on June 17, alleging that she had disrupted communal harmony and hurt Hindu sentiments through comments concerning the modesty of women and remarks about women wearing the burqa. Subsequently, the district court issued multiple notices directing Mahua Moitra to appear before the court which she ignored. She failed to appear in court in connection with this case every time. Although the deadline for her appearance was set for August 18, she did not show up. The judge had extended the deadline for her appearance until 5 PM on August 19. As she failed to appear even then, an arrest warrant was issued today due to non-compliance with the court's directive. The Judicial Magistrate (3rd Court) of Krishnanagar District Court has ordered her to appear in person on August 28.

As per procedure for Complaint Case under section 227 BNSS, the 3rd Judicial magistrate Court in Krishnanagar, while examing the complaiint had issued summons multiple times.
