An IndiGo flight travelling from Delhi to Shirdi was diverted to Navi Mumbai on Friday after bad weather conditions prevented the aircraft from landing
safely at Shirdi Airport, officials said. The flight was scheduled to land in Shirdi but had to be rerouted as adverse weather conditions disrupted flight operations in the region. According to officials, the diversion was carried out as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members. Further details regarding the flight were awaited. Earlier in the day, IndiGo had issued a travel advisory warning passengers about heavy rainfall expected across Mumbai and nearby areas. In a post on X, the airline advised passengers to leave early for the airport as road traffic could be affected due to rain. “Heavy rain is expected across #Mumbai, and that may slow down road movement in some areas. If you are travelling to the airport, we suggest starting a little earlier than usual,” the airline said. The airline also asked passengers to regularly check flight status updates before heading to the airport. “Please keep an eye on traffic updates and check your flight status using our app or website before heading out.” IndiGo said its airport teams were monitoring the situation closely and were ready to assist passengers if needed. “Our airport teams are monitoring the situation and are ready to assist you as needed. Thank you for your patience and cooperation,” the airline added. The latest diversion comes days after another IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Patna was diverted to Lucknow earlier this month due to bad weather conditions at Patna airport.
