Russia does not seek "de-dollarisation" and remains open to every acceptable method of payment, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday. Speaking
in a virtual interaction with Indian reporters days before the BRICS leaders' summit in New Delhi, Peskov also said Russia will welcome any efforts by India to resolve the Ukraine conflict through peaceful means. In an apparent reference to the United States, Peskov said that some countries use their national currency as a political tool. He said this without naming any country. Peskov said that Russia is open to every acceptable method of payment, adding that BRICS is not directed against anyone. Peskov added that 90% of transactions between Russia and BRICS nations are conducted in national currencies. On the resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Peskov said, "We know the position of India on the Ukrainian conflict, and to a great extent, it corresponds with our own position. Because we do want the solution of the Ukrainian conflict by peaceful means." The Russian presidential spokesperson also said that Russia is waiting for negotiations with India on setting up new nuclear plants. The sale of Su-57 aircraft to India is also on the agenda, he added.
Putin To Hold Bilateral Meeting With PM Modi
Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also said that President Vladimir Putin will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. The 18th BRICS Summit is scheduled to be held in Bharat Mandapam here from September 11 to 13.On the proposed US move to levy 100 per cent tariffs on countries buying Russian crude oil, he said it is "illegal and unacceptable".
