Tehran: Tensions escalated in the Middle East after the United States intensified its attacks on Iran, with Tehran also hitting Washington’s military infrastructure
in the Gulf countries. Iran has now warned of an “eye for an eye” response to the US aggression. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in a stern warning, said that Iran would give a "powerful and decisive” response if there is any aggression against Iran. He threatened that those who support the US in strikes against Iran would also be considered "legitimate" targets. “Our defense doctrine is clear: eye for an eye. Any aggression against Iran, including our infrastructure, will compel a powerful and decisive response. Those who contribute to such aggression, whatever the kind of support, will also be considered legitimate targets,” Araghchi said in an X post.
Meanwhile, Iran also threatened to attack infrastructure, bridges, and the energy facilities that have US investments across the region.
“If the Americans target an Iranian bridge or power plant, Iran will respond by striking infrastructure and bridges across the region, including energy facilities in which the United States has interests," a senior Iranian official told Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
US Pounds Iran for 12th Straight Night:
The United States on Wednesday carried out a twelfth consecutive night of military strikes against Iranian targets, as tensions across the Middle East continued to intensify. In a post on X, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the latest operation began at 17:30 ET at the direction of President Donald Trump.
"At 5:30 pm ET today, US forces began launching more strikes against Iranian military targets at the Commander in Chief's direction. The mission will continue to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting regional waters," CENTCOM said. The US military did not specify which locations in Iran were targeted.
Iranian media reported explosions in several parts of the country following the strikes. Mehr News Agency, citing a Khuzestan provincial official, said an area near the city of Ahvaz had been targeted in a US missile attack
The semi-official Fars News Agency reported that two explosions were heard near Bushehr, while Press TV said additional blasts were reported in the southern town of Sirik.
