What is the story about?
The Noida Authority has announced plans to expand the Yamuna Pushta Road into a 10-lane corridor to accommodate the expected surge in traffic after the Noida International
Airport inauguration in Jewar. This project aims to enhance connectivity between Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida, while also providing a direct route to the airport.
Revamping 10-Lane Pushta Road
The redevelopment of the Pushta Road will involve the construction of a 1.4-km elevated link road from the Mahamaya Flyover to the Pushta Road. This link is expected to facilitate direct access from Delhi to the Noida International Airport, thereby alleviating congestion on existing routes, TOI reported.
The project will also include the Chilla Elevated Road, which is currently under construction, to further improve traffic flow.
Krishna Karunesh, CEO of Noida Authority, highlighted the necessity of these upgrades and told TOI, "The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is the primary road connecting Noida with Greater Noida and Jewar. However, traffic pressure will increase significantly once the airport becomes operational."
The Pushta Road, which currently serves as an alternative route, will be widened to accommodate at least six lanes initially, with plans for future expansion to 10 lanes.
According to reports, it is expected that the project will be completed within three months. Construction of the expanded road is projected to take approximately 24 months.
High-Speed Rail Link For Noida International Airport
Meanwhile, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh called upon the Centre to expedite the planning and construction of a high-speed rail link to the Noida International Airport.
During a recent meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Singh asked for the redevelopment of Chola Railway Station, which falls under the North Central Railway zone, to enhance passenger facilities and connectivity.
Singh added, "We formally request the comprehensive development and upgradation of Chola Railway Station into a modern, multimodal transport hub, aligned with the upcoming Noida International Airport."
