Delhi Weather: Delhi saw the coldest Republic Day in 5 years as parts of the national capital experienced extreme coldwave conditions on Monday (January
26). The temperature dipped to 3.6 degrees Celsius yesterday, as people felt the shivers across the city. The capital last recorded a low temperature in 2021, with mercury dipping to 2.1 degrees Celsius, according to an HT report. However, the air quality worsened to the "poor" category, falling from the "moderate" air in January, and breaking the two-day streak. According to the officials, the sharp dip in minimum temperature was caused by clear skies and sustained icy northwesterly winds, recorded over the weekend, HT reported.
Delhi Weather on Republic Day
The national capital saw clear skies and a distinct cold start on Republic Day's morning. Moreover, it did not rain on January 26, offering relief to those who attended the parade at Kartavya Path.
The met department issued no alert for Monday, and the weather remained largely clear, with just cold winds and shivers biting the city. Just the morning hours saw light fog in some pockets of Delhi.
The maximum temperature, moreover, hovered between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius, while the minimum dropped to 4 and 6 degrees Celsius.
