What is the story about?
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the Digital India Internship Scheme 2026 to allow students to gain experience
in the area of technology, policy, and digital governance. This internship offers students an opportunity to gain work experience on government projects under the supervision of a mentor.

The Digital India Internship Scheme 2026 has been launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), offering students an opportunity to gain experience in the areas of technology, policy, and digital governance. The scheme will offer students an opportunity to work on government projects with experts. It will also help the ministry infuse new thinking into its projects.
It will be a two-month program, but it can be extended up to three months, depending on the project's needs and performance. It is normally conducted in New Delhi, but the mode of delivery (online or offline) will be decided by the mentor.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Must be an undergraduate Indian student from a recognised university
- Should have obtained 60% or more in their last examination
- Must be in their second-last year (final year students can't apply)
Eligible streams include:
- B.E/B.Tech, M.E/M.Tech, M.Sc. (CS/IT/Electronics), MCA
- LL.B (for public policy jobs)
- Bachelor’s in Economics/Statistics
It is competitive and favours those with experience and good academic performance.
Important Dates
- Application Period: April 10 - 29, 2026
- Shortlisting: April 30 to May 12, 2026
- Result Announcement: May 19, 2026
- Internship: June 1 to July 31, 2026
