Gurugram has been witnessing relentless showers, turning many places into a “mini Venice” due to severe waterlogging. Most of the city’s streets have been flooded
and inundated. This, however, isn’t new—every time it rains heavily, the same situation unfolds, creating havoc for residents, especially office-goers, as traffic comes to a standstill. Amid this “waterlogging and flooding nightmare,” a video has gone viral, sarcastically titled “Top 5 Places to Visit This Monsoon in Gurugram.” The clip pokes fun at how the city gets submerged after every spell of heavy rainfall. Interestingly, the video was originally uploaded on Instagram back in July—when Gurugram also witnessed torrential downpours leading to severe waterlogging. But it has resurfaced in recent days and is once again cracking up the internet. The footage was shared by an account identified as @gurgaontownlife. The video opens with a text overlay: “Top 5 Places to Visit This Monsoon: Gurugram Edition.” It then highlights five areas across the city that usually get submerged after heavy rains, but with a hilarious twist. For example, the HUDA area—completely waterlogged—is renamed “HUDA Beach.” Similarly, the footage introduces “IFFCO Scuba Diving,” “Sohna Waterfall,” “Golf Course River,” and “MG Road Pool.”
The sarcastic reel throws light on the deteriorating condition of the city’s infrastructure whenever it rains, as entire neighborhoods seem to drown. The video has also attracted fresh comments from viewers. One user wrote, “I’m laughing at this today, but was almost crying yesterday!” Another joked, “But first, you should know how to swim.” A third quipped, “Ek baar gaye, kal tak wapas na aaoge.''
On Monday (September 1), Gurugram came to a standstill after just a few hours of heavy rainfall. Large sections of the Delhi–Gurugram Expressway resembled a slow-flowing stream, leading to traffic snarls stretching nearly 20 kilometres. Hundreds of commuters were trapped for hours, with some stuck late into the night. The downpour also laid bare the city’s weak infrastructure—water leaked from the ceiling of the Signature Tower Chowk underpass, while the Sheetla Mata Mandir road near Sadar Red Light was severely inundated. Vehicles struggled to move along a narrow passage, and auto-rickshaws repeatedly broke down in deep water.
