According to PIB Fact-Check, the video is being pushed by Pakistani propaganda accounts. "This video is Fake and has been digitally manipulated," PIB Fact-Check said in a post on X, clarifying that the Prime Minister did not make any such remark regarding the student protesters. The video has been artificially altered using AI technology, PIB said. The agency also shared a link to the original video to help users to watch and distinguish it from the doctored version in circulation. PIB Fact-Check urged citizens to be cautious of manipulated content being spread online and to rely only on official government sources for verified information, rather than unverified clips circulating on social media. The agency also asked people to report any suspicious content related to the Government of India, sharing a dedicated phone number (+91 8799711259) and email address (factcheck@pib.gov.in) for citizens to flag such material.
AI Video Claims Delhi Police DCP 'Resigned' in Support of Students
Earlier, multiple social media users shared a video of Delhi Police DCP Sumit Jha in which he was allegedly heard announcing his resignation after being pressured by the government to implicate students who were then protesting in support of the CJP. However, an investigation by the Press Trust of India's Fact Check Desk found that the video had been digitally manipulated using AI-generated, superimposed audio.
The original video, posted on the official X handle of the Delhi Police, showed DCP Sumit Jha cautioning the public regarding the misinformation campaign spread by Pakistan-based handles during the CJP demonstration. The claim is false.
Pak-Based Handles, Active During Op Sindoor, Active During CJP Protests
The Delhi Police claimed that it has identified more than 480 Pakistan-based social media handles allegedly involved in spreading misinformation amid the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Martar, saying the same accounts had been active during Operation Sindoor. "We are getting these handles blocked," they said.
