For many travellers, the quickest route from one place to another is usually the one suggested by Google Maps. But for American content creator Tony Klor,
a journey through Bihar turned into an adventure that proved local knowledge can sometimes beat technology in the most unexpected ways. In a video shared on Instagram, Tony documented his trip from Mansi to Bhagalpur, a route that Google Maps estimated would take around four hours by road. Instead of following the suggested route, however, he found himself taking what he jokingly described as a far more efficient and distinctly Indian alternative. “Google Maps said 4 hours. Bihar said, ‘Sit down beta,’" read the caption of the viral post. “I’m an American and I’m having the time of my life here in Bihar. I’m here in Mansi, and it says here on Google Maps that it’s gonna take 4 hours to get to Bhagalpur. It’s literally a 20-minute drive, but do you know what Google Maps doesn’t know about: Indian ingenuity. I guarantee you there’s a way we can get to Bhagalpur real quick,'' Tony said in the viral clip. The video then follows his unconventional journey across the state. Rather than waiting for traditional transport, Tony accepted a ride from a local resident on a motorcycle. Impressed by the hospitality he encountered, he described the people he met as warm and welcoming. Calling Biharis “sweet", he said, “They always pick you up no matter what. Bihar is so damn beautiful!" His journey became even more unusual when he reached an under-construction bridge spanning the River Ganga. Unsure of how he would continue, Tony filmed the scene around him while maintaining his trademark enthusiasm. “I have no idea how we’re gonna get through this, it’s a scene here," he said in the video. After speaking to locals, he discovered that crossing the river by boat was the preferred shortcut to reach Bhagalpur. Soon, he found himself aboard a motorboat, continuing the journey while chatting with fellow passengers and discussing local food along the way.
The clip quickly attracted attention online, with many viewers enjoying his excitement and appreciation for a place that is often stereotyped or misunderstood. Several social media users said his perspective offered a refreshing look at Bihar, highlighting its people, landscapes and everyday ingenuity.
“Bro might be the only person to be having fun in Bihar," one user joked.
Another compared Tony to one of Bollywood's most memorable characters, writing, “You’re the American version of Prem Kishen from Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon."
“Seeing someone so excited for my hometown was not on my 2026 bingo card," another comment read.
