The Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition has ramped up the pressure on the Union Government once again, this time in a strongly worded X post calling out Home Minister Amit Shah. The Congress MP recalled an interaction with a student in Prayagraj and wrote, "a student said to me that he has no way out left now. This defeat is not his. This is the defeat of the system."
He targeted HM Shah for not speaking in Parliament during the Monsoon Session, saying that 13 days had passed and the issue of student protests and crackdown has not been acknowledged by the Minister. He even fired off a jibe at Prime Minister Modi, saying "instead of apologising, Modi ji is doling out pardons."
He then upped the ante against Shah affirming that the demand for accountability will continue as "lathis and pellets rained down on children on the streets of the capital." He questioned Shah's silence on the matter and remarked, "you will have to answer for this crime."
Amid the raging Ranchi student protests, he expressed solidarity with the aggrieved students, calling them the "light of the nation" and extended his support for the movement.
Rahul Gandhi, at his 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' event in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Saturday, said that today the education certifications have no meaning in the country because they cannot give you jobs. The Congress MP from Raebareli, in his outreach to students and Gen Z, said that India’s 40 crore youths are its greatest strength. There is talk of America, China, and Russia, but the strength of India’s youth is unparalleled, he said.
Highlighting the importance of data, he said, "In the 21st century, a country's progress relies on two things: the youth potential that you possess and the data that you generate. India has the youth, and it also possesses the largest volume of data in the world. Every Indian consumes one gigabyte of data daily; future progress will be driven by this data and your potential. Youth plus data equals the 21st-century economy."
