Much of Michigan is bracing for a tough stretch of winter weather, with heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerously low wind chills expected through early
Tuesday. Forecasters are warning that parts of the state could see near-blizzard conditions, making travel risky and outdoor time feel brutal.
Heavy Snow Hits Different Regions
Snow is already falling in some areas, and totals will vary widely across the state. In southeast Michigan, including around Detroit, expect 1 to 3 inches of accumulation by Tuesday morning. Farther west and in northern Lower Michigan, the picture changes dramatically, many spots are under a Winter Storm Warning, with 5 to 10 inches possible.The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids is calling for 5 to 8 inches in their area, and they’re warning of near-blizzard conditions at times due to the combination of heavy snow and gusty winds, as per a report from The Detroit News.
Counties along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, as well as northernmost parts of the Upper Peninsula, face similar threats. Around Marquette, up to 7 inches could pile up.

The National Weather Service has issued a mix of winter weather advisories, warnings, and storm warnings depending on the county.
