At least 18 people were killed after a massive landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district buried a private bus under heavy debris on Tuesday. Several
passengers are still feared trapped as rescue operations continue. Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar confirmed to Times Now that the death toll from the landslide incident in Bilaspur has reached 19. Three people have been rescued alive, and a total of 30 passengers were on board the bus. Rescue operations are ongoing to locate and assist those trapped. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed condolences over the Bilaspur landslide incident. He assured that the state government stands firmly with the affected families and will provide all possible assistance during this difficult time. A video from the site showed a JCB clearing debris as several men worked frantically to rescue trapped passengers. The footage revealed a torn section of the bus, its wreckage bearing the full impact of the mud and rocks that had slammed into it.
Taking to X, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, "The news of the devastating landslide near Balughat (Bhalla Bridge) in the Jhanduta Assembly constituency of Bilaspur district has shaken me to the core. In this massive landslide, tragic news has come of 10 people losing their lives after a private bus was caught in it, and there is apprehension that several others may be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are ongoing at a war footing. Instructions have been given to the authorities to deploy their full machinery. I am in touch with the local administration and am continuously receiving moment-by-moment updates on the entire rescue operation."

PM Modi Announces Ex-gratia of 2 Lakh to Next of Kin of Each Deceased
Announcing an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, PM Modi said, "Saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured," PM Modi said.
"An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000" he added.
