Amid the continuing CJP protest and the fallout of the Opposition's demonstration on Tuesday, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has affirmed
that the Government is ready to hold a discussion on NEET and paper leaks in the Monsoon session of Parliament. Rijiju, in his statement said, "For three days we have been offering that the Government is absolutely ready to have a discussion on the NEET paper leak issue." As ruckus and disruptions continued in Parliament, the Union Government said it is willing to discuss the issue with the Opposition. Rijiju added, "Discussions have to be held as per rules. The rules should be decided after speaking with Floor Leaders of all parties."
Meanwhile, the Opposition stepped up its protest over the NEET paper leak issue. Several Opposition MPs arrived in Parliament wearing black clothes as a mark of protest. Congress MP Pawan Khera said the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha had given a notice under Rule 267 to discuss the NEET paper leak issue and demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He also said the Opposition wanted the Union Home Minister to make a detailed statement in both Houses, but alleged that the government was not ready for it.
As the protests continued on Tuesday, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and several other Opposition leaders were detained by police during their demonstration.
Amid the ruckus in Parliament, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. A crucial huddle is also underway at Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence, with Ministers JP Nadda, Jitendra Singh and BJP President Nitin Nabin in attendance.
Separately, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, with senior leaders Sanjay Singh and Sanjay Raut, also held a meeting as political activity intensified during the Monsoon Session.
The Opposition has been demanding a discussion on the NEET paper leak issue and action against those responsible, while the Government has maintained that it is ready for a debate in Parliament as per the rules.
