Waterlogging, Traffic Jams Across Bengaluru
The sudden downpour brought relief from the heat but also chaos on the roads. Many motorists were caught off guard, resulting in extensive traffic jams. Areas such as Indiranagar and Church Street reported significant waterlogging, while branches from trees fell in several locations, including near the Commissioner’s office.
The IMD noted that gusty winds reached speeds of 40–50 km/h, exacerbating the situation.
Bengaluru Weather This Week
The IMD has indicated that the heavy rain is expected to continue for the next four days as the city enters its pre-monsoon thunderstorm phase. This phase typically brings frequent evening showers and occasional hailstorms until the monsoon arrives later in May or early June.
The IMD has issued a "yellow alert" for three days, stating that the city is on alert till Friday (May 1), with temperatures expected to drop to 23 degrees Celsius.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious during peak traffic hours, as sudden downpours and gusty winds are likely to persist.
