The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a detailed circular for affiliated schools regarding the submission of the List of Candidates
(LOC) for the 2025-26 academic session. The LOC submission process is carried out every year to determine which students will be allowed to appear for the upcoming board examination. This will be the first LOC since CBSE has introduced a two-board examination pattern for Class 10. The board has announced the mandatory linking of the Academic Performance Assessment Report (APAAR) with student records.
CBSE Class 10 Two-Board Exam Policy
For the first time, CBSE will conduct two board examinations for Class 10 students starting from the 2025-26 session. The first examination will be conducted in February, and the main examination will be conducted later. Through an official notice, the board has directed schools to ensure that the LOC includes the names of all Class 10 students enrolled.APAAR Linking Now Mandatory
The Board has announced that the Academic Performance Assessment Report (APAAR) will be a mandatory thing for all students in affiliated schools. Schools will only be allowed to complete the LOC submission process after uploading APAAR details. It is to be noted that APAAR was introduced earlier this year as part of the government’s broader digital education initiative. It serves as a unique academic record for each student.Exception: Schools located abroad have been exempted from this requirement for now.
CBSE Issues Strict Instructions to Schools
The board’s circular also emphasizes accuracy and accountability in the LOC submission process. Schools have been asked to carefully verify students’ names, subjects, and other particulars before uploading the data. To be noted that mistakes at this stage could create complications during the examinations, affecting hall tickets, mark sheets, and certificates. Schools may attract penalties for failing to follow guidelines mentioned in the notice.CBSE has also announced a series of offline parenting workshops. It will be held across five cities and will focus on promoting student well-being, addressing exam-related anxiety. The idea is to help parents understand their role in supporting children during crucial academic years. For more details, one can go to the official website.
