With the US President Donald Trump slapping a whooping 50 per cent tariff on India, the BJP has thrown its weight behind the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's
clarion call of Swadeshi and Atma Nirbharta. Beginning from September 25, birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and culmination on December 25, birth anniversary of late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the NDA ruled states are going to organise activities under Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan. BJP president J P Nadda in a communication sent to all party units stated, "PM Modi's call for Atmanirbharta is echoing across the country in various dimensions. Popularizing Indian wedding destinations, visiting Indian tourist destinations, PM's call for "Go Vocal for Local" have find resonance across the country. Atmanirbharta has been a key word in policy and economic field." The attempt is to make citizens aware of the "Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan" and motivate them to take an oath about using Swadeshi products and adopt social life based on Swadeshi ethos. Also, logos should be in local languages and distributed to every shop, informed a senior leader. The movement is to reach grassroot levels -vyapari sammelans, udyog sammelans, prabhat pheris and Nukkkad natak and mashal yatra, kisan march. The Government departments, local bodies, industry & trade organisations, professional & social organisations, religious & cultural leaders, youth & women organisations, celebrities & influencers in a planned and large manner are going to be involved. Keeping festivals in mind, leaders have been asked to promote use of Swadeshi products during the festivities. "During Durga Puja & Garba Mahotsav, we have to coordinate with Puja Samitis in order to ensure the Atmanirbhar Bharat theme in Puja Pandals, wherever possible. This may include using banners and standees with the message of Atmanirbharta. Placing stalls with Swadeshi products near Puja Pandals with similar messages should be encouraged," stated the communication. The leaders have been directed that during Deepawali people need to be encouraged to buy Swadeshi products and shopkeepers to sell Swadeshi products. "Use of Diyas in place of foreign lighting products should be promoted at a large scale. Local influencers should also be taken onboard in this initiative," the direction reads. It is going to be observed in all Districts in first phase (Oct. 2025) & in all Mandals in second phase (Nov. - Dec. 2025) with suitable participation of relevant social & professional organizations and stakeholders, such as local artisans and craftsmen. The party is also to run a signature campaign with the tagline of "Sankalp for Atmanirbhar Bharat" has to be run on social media involving people from different walks of life. #Sankalp4AtmanirbharBharat has to be used as hashtag for social media posts. National general secretary Arun Singh has been given charge of this movement.
