New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) Mahia Moitra on Tuesday (July 21) took a swipe at Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amid the ongoing Cockroach
Janata Party (CJP)-led protest in Delhi demanding his resignation over the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. Taking a dig at Pradhan, Moitra said that he might does not know how to write a resignation. "Maybe just maybe the Education Minister doesn’t know how to write a letter of resignation…. RSS only teaches you how to write mercy petitions," the TMC MP said in her X post.
Moitra's remarks came a day after protesters marched towards Parliament, leading to clash with Delhi Police. Protesters accused the security forces of using brutal force. However, the police rejected the claim.
"Some segments from media have mentioned sporadic use of violence/detentions at Jantar Mantar by Delhi Police. It is informed that no such incident has taken place and protest is being handled professionally. All are requested not to fall pray to any rumour/ misgivings, and, to assist Delhi Police in maintaining peace and public order at and around the site," the police said in a statement.
The police also urged protesters to exercise retraint. "The Delhi Police appeals to all protesters to exercise restraint and cooperate with the police in maintaining peace and law and order. All protesters are requested to conduct their demonstrations peacefully. They should not engage in any illegal or violent activities and must comply with the legal instructions given by police personnel deployed on duty," the force said in an X post.
CJP's Sit-In Protest Continues:
After the alleged crackdown by the police, CJP protesters again amped at Jantar Mantar through the night despite heavy rain, tight security. On Tuesday morning, volunteers cleaned the protest site, while CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke apologised to supporters injured in the police action.
Heavy security remained in place around the protest venue as volunteers were seen cleaning the stage, the only structure left standing after police removed the tents and other temporary installations on Monday.
Thousands of people gathered at Jantar Mantar on Monday for the CJP's proposed march to Parliament despite heavy security arrangements, multi-layered barricades and prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Police used force, including lathicharge and tear gas shells, after protesters attempted to march towards Parliament, with both sides blaming each other for the violence.
