New Delhi: As Delhi gears up for New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Delhi Police has put in place a comprehensive citywide traffic management plan to ensure
commuter safety and convenience. The plan includes special restrictions in key areas, designated parking arrangements, traffic diversions, and alcohol checkpoints. Restrictions Around Connaught Place Special traffic restrictions will be enforced across the city, particularly in Central Delhi, around Connaught Place (CP) and India Gate, from 7 PM on December 31 due to expected crowds. Vehicles without valid passes will not be allowed beyond designated cut-off points, including Mandi House, Bengali Market, Gole Market, Patel Chowk, Windsor Place, and major intersections along Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Jai Singh Road, and RK Ashram Marg.
Parking Facilities
Limited parking will be available near the central business district at locations such as Gole Dak Khana, Pt Pant Marg, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, Copernicus Marg near Mandi House, DDU Marg, Press Road near Minto Road, Panchkuian, Bengali Market, Windsor Place, and Gole Market. Parking operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and illegally parked vehicles will be towed.
Traffic Around New Delhi Railway Station
Special arrangements will be in place around New Delhi Railway Station, especially for southbound arrivals. With entry restricted via Connaught Place and Chelmsford Road, commuters are advised to use Mandir Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, and Ajmeri Gate. Old Delhi Railway Station will not be affected.
Alcohol Checkpoints
Nearly 100 alcohol-check teams will be deployed across Delhi on the night of December 31 to enforce drunk driving and other traffic violations.
Delhi Police Advisory
Commuters are encouraged to use public transport near Delhi Zoo and Pragati Maidan due to limited parking. Avoid Bhairon Road and Mathura Road during peak hours. Travelers to airports, railway stations, and ISBTs should plan in advance and follow traffic personnel instructions for smooth movement.
