A drunk man allegedly touched a 38-year-old woman inappropriately on a flight from Chennai to Hyderabad, the police said on Sunday (October 19). The woman,
working as an IT professional, was on the flight with her husband. The incident occurred on Friday, when the man in his mid-40s, working in Chennai, was travelling to Uttar Pradesh via Hyderabad was allegedly drunk, the police said, according to a PTI report. The woman was sitting with her husband when the incident happened on the flight. The couple fell asleep during the flight, and when the flight was about to land at the airport, the woman found someone touching her inappropriately and noticed the man's hand and raised an alarm, the police said. Viral Video Taken Out of Context on Guwahati–Hyderabad IndiGo Flight As the flight landed, the woman registered a complaint with the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police based on the woman's statements under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a police official said, according to PTI. The accused was then arrested, who claimed that he accidentally touched her. The police are further probing the matter. Last month, in a separate incident, an IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Hyderabad was delayed due to technical issues, leading to confusion on social media after a video from inside the aircraft went viral. The video, posted by a local reporter from Assam, claimed to show “smoke” filling the cabin. However, sources told Times Now that it was not smoke but mist caused by high humidity and monsoon conditions in Guwahati. Experts clarified that if it had been actual smoke of the intensity shown in the video, passengers would not have been able to breathe normally. The footage was taken out of context, creating unnecessary panic
