Two days after Mumbai received a bomb threat, the city's police are again on high alert on Sunday (September 7) after Nair Hospital received a new threat, and
has been warned of a plan to blow up the entire premises. The hospital received an email claiming that a bomb threat was sent to the Dean's official address on Saturday night, around 11 pm. After the authorities received the alert, the police team, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), reached the hospital and searched the premises. After hours of probing, no suspicious object was found in the hospital, hence making it a hoax call again. '34 human bombs'
This comes two days after Mumbai received a threat call, claiming that 34 "human bombs" carrying 400 kg of RDX had been planted in vehicles across Mumbai to "shake the entire city". The threat was received on the morning of "Ganpati Visarjan" as the city was lit up and roads were jammed with people celebrating the Ganesh festivities.
Later, the call was traced to an organisation, claiming to be "Lashkar-e-Jihadi". The organisation said that 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered India, and the 400 kg of RDX will be used in the blast, police said.
As it happened amid the ongoing Ganesh festivities, the Mumbai Police issued a high alert and intensified security across the city.
Hours later, a 50-year-old man, identified as Ashwin Kumar Sapra, was arrested in Noida for allegedly making these threats. The message warned that "one crore people" could die in the explosions across Mumbai.
Earlier in July, a threat call warned to attack Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, which was also a hoax.
