A heart-wrenching video is going viral on social media in which a man is seen “cruelly” placing his foot on the neck of his pet dog and pressing it hard
in public. The video has sparked widespread outrage online; however, some users have expressed differing opinions, claiming that it “need not necessarily be cruel.” The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as @vanshikaaaa134. In the caption, the user wrote, “My friend and I were passing by when we saw a man cruelly stepping on a dog’s neck. We politely asked him to remove his leg and decided to walk away. Instead, he arrogantly called us back and said, ‘Mera kutta hai, main palta hoon isko, aur main jo chaahun kar sakta hoon.’” In the video, an elderly man can be seen keeping his foot on the dog’s neck while the woman recording the clip confronts him. Two other men are also present and are seen questioning him for pressing his foot “harshly” on the dog’s neck. The man repeatedly claims that the dog is his pet and that since he feeds it, he can do whatever he wants. At one point, the elderly man removes his foot, but the argument continues between him and the others. Watch The Video Here -
The caption further read, “This mindset is deeply disturbing. A living being is not property. Calling a dog ‘mine’ does not give anyone the right to abuse or torture it. Feeding an animal does not make cruelty acceptable, nor does it give someone moral superiority.”
She also added, “What kind of pride comes from exerting power over a voiceless creature? Taking out frustration on an animal simply because it cannot retaliate is not authority—it is cowardice. Just because a dog cannot speak or fight back does not mean it deserves to be treated without dignity or compassion. This is not ownership; this is inhumanity. Acts like these should never be normalised or ignored. Cruelty, in any form, must be called out before it escalates further.”
The video has since gone viral, garnering divided opinions. While many condemned the act, one user commented, “Everyone needs to relax a bit. Look at the dog’s behaviour—he’s been around that uncle and is familiar with him. The dog looks healthy and well-fed and is in a safe space. The uncle doesn’t intend to harm the dog. He is only offended because you are telling him what to do. The shoe might be an issue, but the good boy is lying on the same surface that the sole of the shoe is touching. Bit of an overreach by the kids.”
In response, the user who posted the video replied, “By that logic, anything is okay as long as the abuser claims good intent. That’s dangerous reasoning.”
Since being posted, reactions to the video have remained divided.
