New Delhi: The chargesheet filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Red Fort blast case suggested that Umar un Nabi, the suicide bomber,
had parked his explosive-laden car near Lal Mandir minutes before carrying out the blast outside the Red Fort, the NIA investigation has revealed. The NIA chargesheet has mapped the route taken by Umar un Nabi. Times Now has accessed and reviewed the chargesheet which was filed in May. CCTV footage showed him trying to park the vehicle at 6:37 pm before making a U-turn and driving towards Gate No. 4 of the Red Fort, where he detonated the IED at 6:50 pm. “After exiting the parking lot of Sunehri Masjid, A-1 (Umar un Nabi) attempted to park the car near Lal Mandir at 6:37 PM but was diverted due to traffic and police presence, took a U-turn, and reached near the SoC (Scene of Crime.) at about 06:50 PM,” the NIA chargesheet said. Apart from Lal Mandir, UP Vidhan Sabha, Bapu Bhavan and Lok Bhavan in Lucknow were also among the targets of the terrorists who allegedly orchestrated the Red Fort attack. The NIA filed this chargesheet before the Supreme Court. The NIA probe further established that Umar un Nabi had visited the Red Fort several times. Along with arrested terrorist Muzamil Shakeel, Nabi visited the Red Fort 12 times between 2023 and 2025. He last visited the Red Fort alone on May 1, 2025, six months before the blast. The purpose of these visits to the Red Fort and surrounding areas was to purchase items for the IED, the probe found. The accused would switch off their mobile phones during these visits. Meanwhile, the NIA chargesheet confirmed that the Red Fort blast was a suicide bombing, as Nabi was inside the car at the time of the explosion. “The swab taken from the nasal orifice, confirmed to be a body part of the accused Umar Un Nabi by DNA fingerprinting, tested positive for TATP and Ammonium nitrate. This shows that the accused Umar Un Nabi (A-1) was inside the car at the time of the explosion, and the IED was initiated by him using the above-mentioned command mechanism,” the NIA chargesheet stated. The NIA also uncovered a document titled ‘How to Become an Assassin-The Propagation’. It is a manual containing instructional material on a wide range of combat, covert, and clandestine operational techniques. Its contents include training in hand-to-hand combat, basic martial arts and commando training.
