Difference Between Tornado Watch And Warning
A tornado watch means conditions support tornado formation. No tornadoes are confirmed at this time. A tornado watch does not mean a tornado is on the ground. It means conditions support tornado formation. During a watch, people should stay alert, keep an eye on weather updates, and review their safety plans. Think of it as a “be ready” signal.

A tornado warning means that a tornado is happening right now or has been seen on radar. It could cause damage to homes, trees, and roads. A warning is more serious than a watch because the tornado is active, not just possible. People must take action immediately, like moving to a safe place or storm shelter.
