A heated street exchange between a Pakistani man and a Dane has caught the attention of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who weighed in on the population debate with
his characteristic bluntness. In the viral video, the Pakistani man can be heard telling the Dane, “We shall stay sitting on your hearts for the rest of life man, we have got 5 children and you have only 1 and 2.” He went on to add: “In the next 10-15 years there will be more Pakistanis than Danes in this country. Danes are just 5 million and soon you will be exterminated. Look at Swedes, look at Norwegians, look at Finnish. We are in millions.”
Another Pakistani man in the same video chimed in, saying, “I got married and I am also having 5 kids tomorrow. So, go and give birth to more children man.” The clip, shared on X, quickly went viral—prompting a reaction from Musk.
'Math Is Correct': Musk
Elon Musk's reply was short but striking: “His math is correct.”
This is not the first time Musk has highlighted concerns about global demographics. For years, he has warned that population collapse—not overpopulation—is the “real existential threat to civilization.” In past interviews, he remarked, “Most people still think the world is overpopulated. It’s actually the opposite.”
Japan has often been the centre of Musk’s warnings. Earlier this year, he posted on X: “Japan will lose almost a million people this year.” Calling the trend irreversible since it began “half a century ago,” Musk argued that “AI is the only hope for turning this around.” He stressed that the crisis “has nothing to do with AI” itself but rather long-term demographic decline.
The tech billionaire has also flagged similar concerns for South Korea, Italy, and Eastern Europe, arguing that shrinking populations could lead to economic stagnation, labour shortages, and even civilizational decline.
