Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday fuelled speculation about a possible revival of the former alliance. According to PTI sources, the two leaders discussed the possibility of the parties joining hands again ahead of the crucial Assembly polls in Punjab. Badal met the Prime Minister at Parliament House in New Delhi, and according to sources, alliance talks were on the meeting's agenda, PTI reported. Notably, the SAD left the NDA alliance six years ago over the farm laws issue. The SAD was one of the oldest constituents of the BJP-led alliance with more than 20 years of association when it left the alliance in 2020 over the three agriculture laws, which were later withdrawn by the PM Modi government.
