A group of schoolchildren in Uttar Pradesh has captured the internet's attention after staging a protest over poor infrastructure at their government school,
with many on social media calling it the rise of "Gen Alpha activism." The demonstration took place at Sarvodaya Inter College in Kishanpur town of Fatehpur district, where hundreds of students marched with posters, banners and photographs of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, demanding better educational facilities and basic amenities. Videos from the protest quickly went viral across social media platforms, drawing praise from users who applauded the children for speaking up about the conditions in their school. The protest also caught the attention of Chandrashekhar Azad, chief of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), who shared the videos on social media and praised the students for standing up for their rights. In his post, Azad wrote, "Today, in Sarvodaya Inter College located in the town of Kishanpur in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, hundreds of young children from 'Gen Alpha' took to the streets, holding pictures of the most revered Babasaheb in their hands, demanding education and dignified basic facilities." He further claimed that the students had repeatedly raised their concerns with the school administration but that no concrete action had been taken. Calling the protest a reflection of shortcomings in the state's education system, he said the children had demonstrated awareness of both their constitutional rights and their right to quality education. Concluding his post, he wrote, "Jai Bhim! Jai Gen Alpha!"
According to videos circulating online, the students raised slogans against the school management while highlighting a range of problems they claimed had persisted for months. They alleged that classrooms lacked functioning fans, seating arrangements were inadequate, and the premises were unclean. The children also complained about unhygienic washrooms and the absence of clean drinking water.
As clips of the protest spread online, social media users flooded the comments section with praise for the students' confidence and organisation. Many remarked that after the recent Gen Z-led demonstrations in Delhi, it was now "Gen Alpha's turn" to make its voice heard, with several describing the children as an inspiration for demanding better learning conditions.
