Amid the ongoing flood situation, the Jajpur district administration has announced the closure of 313 schools across eight flood-affected blocks today.
Keepng in mind the extreme weather conditions, schools in Jajpur, Bari, Binjharpur, Rasulpur, Dasarathpur, Korei, Dharmasala and Barchana blocks have been declared closed. The decision has been taken as several areas of the district continue to remain affected by rising floodwaters, with authorities prioritising the safety of students, teachers and other school staff. In neighbouring Bhadrak district, 205 schools across four flood-affected blocks have also been declared closed today. In addition to this, schools in Tihidi, Dhamnagar and Chandbali will also remain shut in view of the ongoing flood situation. The administration has also announced the closure of 265 Anganwadi centres across the affected areas. With floodwaters continuing to affect several parts of Jajpur and Bhadrak, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and taking precautionary measures to ensure public safety. The decision has been taken as several areas continue to face the impact of flooding, with authorities prioritising the safety of students and staff. As several areas in the state are still experiencing the effects of the floods, local authorities have warned students, teachers and other residents to stay indoors and only step out when needed.
Are Schools Closed in Punjab Today?
Meanwhile, in the northern part of the country, a federation of private schools in Punjab on Thursday announced a school holiday, and the Panjab university rescheduled exams to be held on August 21 in the wake of the 'Punjab Bandh' call given by the Qaumi Insaf Morcha.
Federation of Private Schools and Association of Punjab (FAP), a representative of over 7,500 private schools in the state, said it has announced a holiday in all schools on August 21. The decision was taken while giving priority to the safety of students, said FAP president Jagjit Singh Dhuri in a statement.
However, no such official statement has been released by the Punjab government.
