The Delhi car blast suspects - Dr Umar Un Nabi and Dr Muzammil - had recceed the Red Fort area twice in January this year, sources have told Times Now.
Investigators suspect that the terrorists might have planning a Republic Day strike at the monument where Prime Minister Narendra Modi gives his Independence Day speech. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the Red Fort car blast, in which 12 people were killed and over 20 injured. A team of the NIA has flown to Srinagar to interrogate around seven suspects, including Dr Adeel, Dr Muzammil Shakeel, and cleric Irfan Maulvi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have vowed staunch action against the conspirators, warning that they will not be spared.
Meanwhile, more explosives were recovered after a raid in Faridabad's Sector 56 on Tuesday, a day after the blast. Two people have been detained.
Police teams from Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi are at the centre of a multi-state terror sweep, that has exposed a "white collar" JeM terror module.
Apart from Dr Muzammil, a faculty at a Faridabad medical college, and Dr Adeel, who worked at a Saharanpur hospital, the security forces have also arrested a woman doctor in Lucknow. Dr Shaheen has been flown to Srinagar for custodial interrogation.
In fact, new CCTV footage showed Dr Shaheen's car parked right next to the Hyundai i20 which was used in the blast by mastermind Dr Umar. Umar's car was seen parked inside Al Falah University for the past ten days, right next to the Swift which was used by Dr Muzammil but was registered in the name of Dr Shaheen.
