Mumbai Crime Branch has uncovered fresh details about how the accused allegedly escaped after the firing incident linked to actor Tiger Shroff. Investigators
have found that the two shooters, Phool Singh and Rehan, along with another accused, Rithik Kumar, travelled from Mumbai to Surat in a cab after cancelling an Uber booking. According to the investigation, the accused initially booked an Uber cab through the app outside Kandivali railway station to travel towards Gujarat. However, when the driver arrived at the pickup point, Rithik allegedly cancelled the booking. The three accused then reportedly convinced the driver to take them to Surat without using the app, offering him additional money for the journey. After reaching Surat, they allegedly paid the driver around Rs 8,000. The Mumbai Crime Branch has recorded the cab driver's statement as part of the investigation.
How Police Tracked The Accused
Investigators found that Rithik switched off his mobile phone after getting into the cab to avoid being tracked. The mobile phones of both shooters, Phool Singh and Rehan, were also switched off.
However, the accused allegedly left behind a crucial lead while trying to hide their movements.
When the Uber driver initially reached the pickup location, he had called Rithik on his mobile number. This call helped the Crime Branch identify Rithik's phone number.
Police subsequently used the cab driver's phone number and monitored its location to trace the accused. Technical surveillance, along with information provided by the driver, helped investigators piece together their escape route.
The driver's statement and call records have emerged as important leads in the investigation.
