On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and said his timeless message will keep guiding
everyone towards a better society and a developed India. PM Modi said Bapu's entire life was a beacon of truth, non-violence, compassion, and service that it will continue to guide humanity across every era. "May Bapu's timeless message keep guiding us towards a better society and a 'Viksit Bharat'," he said in a post on X. Through a video message, the prime minister also said that the significance of this day for the nation is known to everyone. "His ideology has inspired the entire world. Mahatma Gandhi is such a personality that, even though he was far away from power, he continues to remain in the hearts of millions of people," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also paid floral tributes to Gandhi at Rajghat.
Congress, other leaders pay homage
The Congress on Friday also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, with Rahul Gandhi saying that he taught "us never to bow before injustice" as standing firm with truth and non-violence is true strength.
While Rahul Gandhi said truth, non-violence, and fearlessness are Bapu's greatest legacy, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said remaining steadfast on the father of the nation's principles of truth, non-violence, harmony and justice is the true tribute to him.
The leaders also paid floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Rajghat in the morning.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, DMK president M K Stalin and AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, urging the people to uphold his foundational ideals of non-violence, religious harmony, and truth.
In a post on 'X', CM Vijay stated that Gandhi secured India's freedom using the great weapon of non-violence.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary and remembered the Father of the Nation's contribution to India's freedom struggle through the principles of 'self-reliance' and 'swadeshi'.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said Mahatma Gandhi's ideals such as truth, non-violence, cleanliness, and village self-governance continue to guide us even today.
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar and was assassinated on January 30, 1948, in Delhi. The nation is marking his 157th birth anniversary today.
