Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, during an event in Nagpur, said he cannot work as much as he used to and that responsibilities should now be handed over
to the younger generation. His remarks come amid speculation of a possible reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Union Cabinet. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, Gadkari said his involvement in public work has reduced in recent times and that the younger generation should get an opportunity to take things forward. “Work should be handed over to the new generation. A new generation has come, and the older generation is guiding them,” Gadkari said, explaining that his participation in day-to-day work has come down. “I have been continuously working in public life for the last 30 years. I have seen many ups and downs and received many awards... But I can’t do much social work now, the new generation should be given a chance to take this responsibility ahead,” Gadkari said.

The remarks have sparked speculation over whether Gadkari was hinting at retirement or a reduced role in active politics. However, he has not made any formal statement about his political future.
Gadkari, however, said there was still a lot of development work to be done. He said the government would focus on ensuring that no tribal village in Maharashtra remained without electricity and that development was visible across the state.
Gadkari Remarks Come Amid BJP’s Generational Shift
Gadkari’s comments come days after the BJP announced a major organisational overhaul, its first such restructuring since 2015, when Amit Shah was the party president.
Last week, the BJP announced its new national team under party president Nitin Nabin. The 65-member team has 51 new faces, marking a significant generational shift within the party.
The new team includes 13 national vice presidents, among them former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav. Former Union minister Smriti Irani has also been appointed as one of the party’s eight national general secretaries.
The BJP’s organisational changes have added to speculation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could also reshuffle his Union Cabinet.
