After four consecutive days of‘cold’ conditions caused by storms and rain, similar weather is expected to continue in Kolkata on Thursday (April 9). However,
meteorologists said that the intensity of storms and rains in the metropolis on Thursday will be much less than in the previous few days. This morning, the Alipore Meteorological Department informed that the minimum temperature in Kolkata has decreased slightly to 21.3 degrees Celsius, which is 3.9 degrees lower than normal. According to the weather department, around 15.2 millimeters of rain has been recorded in the last 24 hours. The maximum temperature today is likely to hover around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may stay close to 21 degrees. The sky is expected to turn cloudy by afternoon or evening, with a chance of light rain and thunder.
No New System, Dry Weather From Friday
Meteorologists have said that there will be light rain with lightning in Kolkata on Thursday, but the intensity will be much less. “Since no new weather system is formed, the weather in Kolkata will become dry from Friday.” Along with this, temperatures are expected to rise ahead of Poyala Baishakh on April 15, signalling the return of heat conditions in the city.
The Alipore Meteorological Department has also indicated that dry weather will prevail from Friday through Tuesday, with no rainfall expected during this period.
South Bengal To Receive Thundershowers
Across South Bengal, rain with thundershowers is likely to continue today. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in many parts of Howrah, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, and Nadia.
Meanwhile, districts including Hooghly, West Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Birbhum and Murshidabad are also likely to witness light to moderate rain with thundershowers in some areas.
