Heavy rain and strong winds caused widespread disruption across Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, with a large tree crashing onto moving vehicles in the national capital
and severe waterlogging bringing traffic to a standstill in parts of Gurugram. In Delhi's East of Kailash, a large tree fell on a moving Mercedes and another passing car on Raja Dhir Singh Marg at around 1:30 pm. The incident damaged both vehicles, but no injuries were reported. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a call about the incident at 1:38 pm and rushed a fire tender to the spot. Officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) also arrived and began cutting and removing the fallen tree to clear the road and restore traffic. "No one was injured in the incident," a DFS official said. The fallen tree temporarily disrupted traffic on Raja Dhir Singh Marg. Officials believe it was uprooted due to strong winds and heavy rain that lashed parts of the city during the afternoon. Meanwhile, heavy rain also created chaos in neighbouring Gurugram. Several roads were submerged, leading to severe waterlogging and long traffic jams across the city.
In the Civil Lines area, multiple vehicles got stranded after a rain-filled pit developed on the road. Commuters faced major delays as waterlogged streets slowed traffic movement in several parts of the city.
Authorities have advised commuters to drive carefully and avoid waterlogged stretches as rain continues to affect normal life across the Delhi-NCR region.
