Mumbai: Panic gripped parts of Bhayander East on Friday morning after a leopard was spotted in a residential area along Talav Road, triggering an emergency
response from civic authorities. The big cat reportedly entered Parijat Building, where it injured four people, prompting a swift rescue operation by the Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade. According to officials, the leopard was first sighted in the Talav Road area during the early morning hours before it entered a flat inside Parijat Building, catching residents off guard. In the chaos that followed, several people sustained injuries while trying to escape or secure themselves indoors. The injured residents are being rescued and shifted to safety by the fire brigade, officials said. Medical teams have been alerted, and the condition of the injured is being assessed.
Fire brigade personnel, along with civic officials and local residents, are working to confine the leopard within the building to prevent it from escaping into nearby lanes or neighbouring societies.
Area Secured, People Urged to Stay Indoors
Authorities have cordoned off the surrounding area and appealed to residents to remain indoors and avoid gathering near windows or balconies. Wildlife and forest department teams are expected to reach the spot to safely tranquillise and capture the animal.
Officials said the situation remains tense but under close watch, with efforts focused on ensuring public safety and the safe capture of the leopard.
