West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari himself has hinted about a new alleged financial scam in West Bengal on Friday. During a media briefing Adhiakri
has indicated that, there may have been a fresh financial corruption in BGBS (Bengal Global Business Summit) during the tenure of previous TMC led govt. During a press conference, West Bengal Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari also said that a case will be filed on that matter and proper investigation will be carried out by a competent agency. While addressing media persons in Kolkata’s Newtown on Friday, West Bengal CM Suvendu says, "Mamata Banerjee has given a total amount of 635 crore rupees to an event management company for organizing BGBS(Bengal Global Business Summit). This will also be investigated. If necessary, we will handover the charge of investigation to those agencies who investigate financial irregularities.” CM Suvendu Adhiakri further added, “We will not leave anyone, People didn't put us here to let anyone go.” Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata while marking 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, Adhikari claimed that preliminary information available with his administration indicated that a single event management agency had been paid ₹635 crore in connection with organising the BGBS. Describing the amount as “substantial,” the Chief Minister has given a hint that his government would initiate a detailed probe into how the funds were spent and whether due procedures were followed in awarding contracts related to the summit. He has indicated that the expenditure took place under the administration led by former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress government. Source further stated that investigators would examine all aspects of these financial transactions linked to the event and would also look into the possibility of money laundering, if any. Chief minister has asserted that if anyone found responsible would not be spared if irregularities were established during the inquiry. The Bengal Global Business Summit was launched by the previous state government as a platform to attract domestic and international investment to West Bengal. Over the years, the event has hosted industrialists, global business leaders and government representatives from India and abroad. The Trinamool Congress has not immediately responded to the allegations at the time of publication. The proposed investigation is expected to intensify the political confrontation between the ruling BJP government in the state and the opposition Trinamool Congress ahead of upcoming political battles in West Bengal.
