Another key accused in the NEET 2026 paper leak case was arrested on Monday (May 18) by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Professor Shivaraj Motegaonkar,
owner of Renukal Coaching Centre (RCC) in Latur, Maharashtra, came under the scanner after a video went viral showing him asking students how many questions from the mock Chemistry papers appeared in the NEET exam. Motegaonkar runs this institute, which coaches the students for the NEET UG examination. It has nine branches, with the main branch in Latur. According to a CBI report, he is close to P V Kulkarni, Chemistry Lecturer, who is associated with NTA.
Same Chemistry Question Bank Found At His Institute
Searches conducted at his institute and residence resulted in the recovery of a Chemistry question bank which contained exactly the same questions that appeared in the NEET exam held on May 3. According to the central probe agency report, the coaching institute had provided a set of 42 Chemistry question papers as guess papers.
10 Accused Arrested in NEET Paper Leak Case
So far, 10 accused have been arrested in this case from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nasik, Pune, Latur, and Ahliyanagar.
Earlier, nine accused were produced in the court and taken into police custody, and an interrogation is going on. The 10th accused is being produced before the court.
In the last 24 hours, CBI has also conducted searches at 5 locations at various places and seized several incriminating documents, Laptops, and mobile phones. A detailed analysis of the seized items is going on.
It may be recalled that CBI registered this case on May 12, based on the written complaint given by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, pertaining to the alleged paper leak of the NEET-UG 2026 Examination. Immediately after registration of the case, special teams were formed, and searches were conducted at various locations across the country, and several suspects were picked up and interrogated.
