Banking operations across the country are likely to face disruption as bank unions have announced a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to September 30.
Ahead of the proposed strike, several banks have started alerting customers through SMS messages about the possible impact on banking services. It is advised that the customers with pending documentation or other branch-dependent work should therefore plan these transactions ahead of September 28. In a SMS message to the customers, the banks have informed customers about the proposed strike and advised them to complete branch-related banking work by September 25 to avoid inconvenience.
PNB Alerts Customers:
In its message to customers, PNB said, “Bank Unions have called for nation wide 3 days strike from 28th -30th Sep 2026.” The lender also said it was working to ensure the continued availability of digital banking channels during the strike period.
According to PNB's customer advisory, ATMs, mobile banking, internet banking and UPI services are expected to remain available. The bank has also mentioned the availability of Business Correspondent services to help customers meet their banking requirements during the strike.
However, customers who need branch-based services have been advised to act before the strike begins. PNB specifically asked customers to visit branches and complete their “other banking requirement” on or before September 25.
Bank of India:
Bank of India has similarly informed customers that a nationwide bank strike.
Dear Customer, due to nation-wide Bank strike on 28, 29 and 30th September 2026, we request you to use Bank's 24*7 digital channels such as Mobile Banking/ ATM/ Internet Banking/ BC Point/ UPI for your banking needs. Thank you for banking with us - Bank of India said in a SMS to its customers.
Central Bank of India proposes ATMs, digital banking:
Central Bank of India has also alerted customers advising its customers to use ATMs, digital banking channels and Business Correspondent points for banking services during the strike.
"Dear Customer,
Due to the proposed nation-wide bank strike in coming week, i.e. 28/09/26 to 30/09/26, kindly use our ATMs, other digital channels and BC points for banking services. Thank you for banking with us. -Central Bank of India"
SBI customer advisory:
The State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a fresh customer advisory asking its customers to complete important banking transactions to avoid possible inconvenience.
SBI has also advised on the use of ATMs saying that for the customers who need cash during the strike period, they can use ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs).
The proposed September 28 to 30 strike is part of the union forum's wider programme, which also includes a continuous strike from October 26. Notably, it is a weekend of September 26 and 27, making it a long break.
