Mumbai Weather: Mumbai is bracing for another spell of heavy showers along with unusual foggy conditions, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD)
has sounded an orange alert for the city later this week. Residents have been advised to stay prepared for intense rainfall and poor visibility. On Tuesday, 24 September, the city saw a partly cloudy sky with chances of moderate rain or thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph. The maximum temperature was recorded at 31.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum dipped to 24 degrees Celsius. According to the seven-day forecast, 25 September will bring moderate showers under a generally cloudy sky. No official warnings have been issued for this day, but conditions are expected to turn more severe from 26 September onwards.
Heavy Rainfall Expected From 26 September
IMD has predicted heavy rainfall beginning Thursday, 26 September. An orange alert has been issued for the city as widespread downpours are set to continue into the weekend.
On 26 September, Mumbai will see heavy showers with cloudy skies, followed by similar conditions on 27 and 28 September. The weather office has flagged the possibility of waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Dense Fog Warning – A Rare Event in Mumbai
Alongside the heavy rain, the IMD has also issued an orange warning for dense fog on 27 and 28 September. Foggy mornings in late September are unusual for Mumbai, raising concerns about visibility for early commuters, especially on highways and in low-lying areas.
Conditions are expected to ease slightly from 29 September onwards, with partly cloudy skies in the morning hours and the possibility of thundershowers in the evening or night, accompanied by squally winds. The forecast suggests similar weather for 30 September, with no warnings in place for these days.
