According to the contents of the email, the sender made threatening references to August 15 and claimed that Delhi would become "Khalistan". The message also reportedly rejected Independence Day as a day of Sikh independence and contained references to a possible bomb blast on August 15.The email made threatening references to the Delhi High Court, district courts and the Red Fort. It also referred to cases involving Sikhs and alleged action against Congress leaders over the 1984 anti-Sikh violence.
The message further contained threatening references involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, besides mentioning explosions and people arriving in "khaki uniforms".

The email also reportedly contained references to the Delhi-Ambala route and claimed that Khalistan supporters had reached Delhi. It allegedly mentioned a train travelling from Delhi towards Ambala as a potential target.Names and identifiers linked to Khalistan militancy were also included at the bottom of the message.
