The email, sent to the Mayor's official ID, warned of car bombs and IEDs across multiple locations, listing specific stretches including Ghatkopar, Marol Naka, Andheri, Gundavali and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, while explicitly urging parents not to send children to school or allow them to travel by Mumbai Metro.
Pro-Khalistan Slogans, Specific Targets and Timings Named
The message carried pro-Khalistan slogans, invoked "Khalistan Zindabad," and claimed there was "no Independence Day for Sikhs," while separately naming Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis as targets for allegedly supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.It further specified an attack on the Mayor's Office around 3:11 PM and a plan to "stop Mumbai" around 12:11 PM, alongside a stated intent to "destroy India's economy" and disrupt Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
This marks the third such threatening email received by the Mayor's office, following two earlier similar messages. Mumbai Police have launched a formal investigation, with Cyber Police now working to trace the email's IP address, origin and sender as part of the ongoing probe.
