Bengaluru: Motorists travelling through north Bengaluru should brace for longer commutes as the city traffic police have announced traffic restrictions
on the Hennur–Bagalur Main Road due to white topping work. The restriction, which comes under the limits of the Bengaluru City Traffic Police, is expected to remain in place for approximately three months, officials said. According to the advisory, white topping work will be carried out by the Greater Bengaluru Authority on the stretch from the railway crossing near Vaddarapalya Rajakaluve to Faran College. During this period, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to use this main road to ensure smoother execution of the project and public safety.
Stretched Shut for Heavy Vehicles
The traffic police clarified that the Hennur–Bagalur Main Road from Faran College to Vaddarapalya Junction Rajakaluve will remain temporarily restricted for heavy vehicles. Light motor vehicles may continue to ply, subject to traffic conditions.Alternative Routes for Heavy Vehicles
To reduce congestion and inconvenience, several alternative routes have been suggested:
- From Bagalur–Hennur Road towards K.R. Puram:
Heavy vehicles should take a left turn near Kannur village and proceed via Gunduru–Avalahalli, continuing along Old Madras Road towards K.R. Puram. - From International Airport Road towards Bengaluru city:
Vehicles should turn right near Kannur village, take a left at Bellahalli Junction, and proceed via Thanisandra Main Road through Nagawara Junction towards Hebbal and the city. - From Bagalur towards Bengaluru city:
A right turn near Kannur village, followed by Bellahalli Junction and onward via Kogilu Cross towards the city, has been advised. - Towards Bagalur and Kempegowda International Airport via Hennur–Bagalur Road:
Heavy vehicles should use the alternative route from Hennur Junction via Outer Ring Road, take a right at Nagawara Junction, then proceed along Thanisandra Main Road through Bellahalli Junction towards Reva College, Bagalur Road and the airport.
Advice for Airport-Bound Commuters
The advisory also suggests that members of the public heading to the airport can avoid delays by taking a left turn near K. Narayanapura Cross from Hennur Junction, followed by a left near Kristu Jayanti College, connecting to Thanisandra Main Road via Rachenahalli Road, and proceeding through Hegde Nagar, Bharatiya City and Bellahalli Cross.
Traffic police have urged commuters to follow the suggested diversions and plan their journeys in advance to avoid congestion during the construction period.
