The impact of Kalbaisakhi storms is likely to bring hail, heavy rain, and thunderstorms in several districts. Light to moderate rainfall with strong winds is expected in most regions.
Kalbaisakhi Alert: Strong Winds and Heavy Rain Forecast
Weather conditions are expected to worsen in South Bengal from Monday onwards. Districts including Bankura, Howrah, East and West Medinipur, North and South 24 Parganas, and Jhargram may experience strong winds reaching 50 to 60 kmph. Kolkata and nearby areas are also under Kalbaisakhi alert.In North Bengal, the situation remains equally serious. Heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri. Thunderstorms with wind speeds of up to 60 kmph are likely across the region. Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar may witness particularly intense rainfall.
The weather department has advised residents to remain cautious and stay indoors during thunderstorms.
Temperature, Humidity, and When Weather Will Improve
Despite the rains, humidity levels remain high, causing discomfort. As per recent data, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 32.0 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels ranged between 67 percent and 98 percent, making conditions sticky. Rainfall in the last few hours has been recorded at 11.3 mm.The forecast suggests that while heavy rain and storms will continue till Tuesday, the intensity may gradually reduce from Wednesday. By Thursday, the weather is expected to turn drier with clearer skies and sunshine returning.
