Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday hit out at the Opposition over repeated disruptions in Parliament, saying the government is ready to discuss
the NEET issue and answer every question raised by MPs. Shah said terms such as “missing” and “fugitives” have only recently entered India’s public and parliamentary discourse, asserting that he has been regularly attending Parliament and sitting in his chamber since the session began. “But the Opposition is not allowing Parliament to function in either House. So, what is the point of anyone going inside when the proceedings are not being allowed to run?” Shah said. On the demand for a discussion on the NEET issue and students’ protests, Shah said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has already made it clear that the government is willing to discuss all aspects of the matter. “I have also made it clear from my side that I am ready to answer any questions in Parliament. But they simply do not want the discussion to take place,” he said. "I will also discuss why you did not want the discussion. The government is ready to discuss everything under the leadership of the NDA of the BJP and Modi Ji. The Parliament should be allowed to run."
Challenging the Opposition to prove who is actually avoiding a debate, Shah said they should submit a letter to the Speaker by 3 pm.
“We are ready for all kinds of discussions from 3 pm today until 3 pm tomorrow. I will remain present in the House, listen to everyone and answer every question. The government has nothing to hide,” he said.
Shah also said he was willing to discuss why the Opposition itself was allegedly unwilling to participate in the debate.
“The BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the NDA government under his leadership, is ready to discuss every issue. They should allow Parliament to function,” Shah said.
