Ahead of the cloud seeding activity or artificial rain planned in the national capital for Wednesday (October 29), Delhi is expected to witness light rain on Monday
and Tuesday (October 27 and 28). As the skies are likely to remain cloudy over the city today, people in Delhi might witness light showers. As air quality continues to worsen, Delhi’s AQI remained in the “very poor” category on Monday. However, some of the areas recorded “severe” air quality on Monday. News agency PTI reported, citing the readings in Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Sameer App, that localities such as Bawana and Anand Vihar recorded severe air quality with AQI 401 and 431, respectively. Out of 38 monitoring stations, 23 reported very poor air quality, with readings above 300 on Monday morning.
Cloud seeding in Delhi
As the AQI worsened in Delhi post-Diwali, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta last week said that the city was ready to carry out cloud seeding on October 29. The announcement was made following a test run over Burari.
The IMD in a Friday bulletin stated, “A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to impact the western Himalayan region and adjoining northern plains from October 27 to the morning of October 29. Under its influence, one or two spells of very light rain or drizzle are likely over Delhi during the evening of October 27 to the morning of October 28.”
